Iron Man and Zine Workshop

by BethniK on June 8, 2009

This week for the Fantastical: Teen Summer Reading Program @GPL there will be a movie day and a Zine workshop.  Both events are FREE and open to teens ages 12-18.

We will be watching Iron Man on Wednesday June 10 from 4-6 pm on a big screen.  Popcorn and sodas will be served.

Friday June 12 from 4-6 pm is the Zine Workshop.

You may be wondering what exactly is a “zine”?   Zine is short for magazine.  They are small, self published mini-magazines or home-made comics.  They can be on any subject and are a great way to express yourself and your interests.  They can be made by one person or many.  We will be making digest or half-page size zines.   We will make photocopies of your zines to display in the library throughout summer.

Don’t forget that there is also a Teen Art Show going on through June and July as part of the teen summer reading program.  First place is a $50 gift certificate to Hobby Lobby.  Stop by the library for rules and a submission form.  Submission deadline is Sunday July 26, 2009.
